Children can have critical illness cover as well as adults. Children can be included on your policy if they are your birth child, adopted or stepchild. Some providers will include children’s cover as standard within their critical illness plan, meaning you do not have to pay extra in premiums.
Standard cover for children is usually 50% of your full cover amount or £25,000, whichever is lower. Some providers offer an enhanced version of children’s cover but this will be for an additional premium.
Children are covered for the same conditions as adults as well as some child specific illness’s.
If you make a claim for your child during the term of the policy, this does not affect your plan meaning your policy will not end.
There are a couple of providers that allow you to add Children’s Critical Illness cover to a standalone terms assurance plan without the need to have a critical illness policy yourself.
