A blast from the past, when the past was a blast
We knew not what was around the corner during the laughs
We went to see clients, and dine out with our friends,
Before the world changed and we’d pivot and bend.
Suddenly we turned to make sure we were protecting,
Our loved ones, acquaintances or people we could be infecting.
So into lockdown we went knowing what was being asked,
And thus staying safe was what we were tasked.
Months we spent keeping our social distance,
Not working or meeting to protect our coexistence.
Thankfully the sun shone through our months all alone,
And how our general knowledge had all suddenly grown.
We now knew how to zoom call with friends,
And chipping golf balls into buckets to make sure the world mends.
We were slowly released to all of our jubilation,
And life started to feel like less of a frustration.
For us it was mortgages, and helping people out,
And for others it was just getting out and about.
A few months went past and we started to get used to,
Getting home by 10 and furlough… who knew!
However just before we could get excited,
Maybe our joy was a little short-sighted.
A second wave was upon us and our learned leaders,
Were telling we needed to keep more than two metres
Lockdown again and all of us scared,
Another state of emergency was being declared.
So here we now find ourselves and with determination,
We will do enough to save our great nation.
It may take some sacrifice on all of our parts,
But do it we shall because it feels right in our hearts
We will keep people safe, and work harder than ever,
To ensure that we return due to our own endeavour.
So zoom call from home, do click and collect
And in 2021 we should all reconnect.
In the meantime stay strong, and check in on your mates
Be nice, be sensible, show our generation as one of the greats
We’ll be here at Affinity ready to offer our assistance,
With mortgages, protection our great advice is consistent!
Then next year we will be allowed to go out,
Safely, securely and without any doubts.
If we do all these things, and all that is asked,
Then future, will be present and that blast will go past!
